Pla{in-}sight, is a project I have been working on for the better part of the last two years.
Those who have known me a while know my sentiments on mental health and how passionate I am about it. I often said there was a lot of work to be done with regards to raising awareness, however, as a young creative with no professional expertise, How could I contribute to making sure that people could see and understand the importance of mental health?
Hence this project, a visual and written account that walks you through the mind of today's youth and the mental states they often find themselves in and what could cause them, both good and bad. These visuals will try to depict both conceptually and at times plainly the many states of the mind that the youth could experience on the daily along with accounts from various youth (who could choose to remain anonymous) on their experiences. It is my hope that as we see the various states of mind that exist-some we may not even expect our young to struggle with, we will be careful to treat others better and do our best to think of others as we make our way in this world together.

SIDE-NOTE: Plain sight? As in hidden in plain sight. Insight? As in a deeper understanding of something. BOOM! Plain{in-} sight, a deeper understanding of what could be right in front of you. I hope you enjoy this journey with me.

TODAY'S THEME.
The Comfort Zone
"I stay where I'm confident to limit my anxiety, I'm aware of what I do here, I control the risk...I'm...comfortable here."-anonymous

Our muse sits behind a veil of plastic, transparent so she can see what she wants...what she could be...but still sits behind that thin veil, unable to bring herself to take a step toward uncharted territory. She knows where she is, she knows what's around her...she is the master of this tiny space and holds on to the peace of being within what she can control.

It's hard wanting something...seeing something and not being able to grab it, not only because you're too afraid to try, but you're afraid to fail. There are moments when it seems a person may be a hindrance to their own progress...or as some would say "their own worst enemy", based on their slow response or their unwillingness to experiment or "grow". Yes, in truth laziness can be the source of such actions, but for some, a desire for perfection means staying within the limits one can control...no unforseen circumstances...no problems. Familiar territories will always be easy to navigate, it's always important to remember to ask yourself why a person could do what they do.
